Le Matin, Fre - American golf star Michelle Wie pulled in the crowds for the start of the Omega European Masters tournament in Crans-Montana but the course proved too much for her. Weak performances Thursday and Friday mean she missed the cut for the weekend final play.
Wie's enthusiastic fans helped raise the number of spectators by 2,500 Thursday, over the Thursday of the previous year. She ended her round with a bogey, turning in a score of 78, which was 7 over par. Friday she was 8 over par, with a score of 79.
The UK's Bradley Wedge and Germany's Marcel Siem lead the tournament with 7 under par, 135.
