RSR, Fre - The four-day Easter weekend had people on the go, with record numbers of skiers in many resorts and 100,000 people going through the Gothard tunnel, a main European north-south route. Zermatt's overnight stays were up 3% over 2006 and Grindelwald registered 25,300 skiers, more than double the number this time last year.
The busiest travel time, reports RSR, was Thursday evening when the northern entrance to the Gothard had a 7 kilometre tailback. The busiest road in the Lake Geneva region was the A9 autoroute between Martigny and Lausanne, which connects the resorts in Valais with Vaud. (continue reading)→
