24 heures, Fre - Vaud's best nose was named by the Vaud Wine Office as part of its annual Jean Louis award. Luc Massy of Epesses, winemaker and oenologue, won the intensive three-day competition, taking the Chapeau Noir or Black Hat award for overall winner. The 85 contestants worked their way through a daunting array of reds, whites and AOC (denomination) wines in the competition's 65th year. Elisabeth Blanc of Gilly won the women's category, new this year. Francois Marquis won the Verre d'Or award. The competition is open to amateurs.
