Le Matin, Fre - Montreux has just pocketed a check for SFr1.7 million francs from canton Vaud for which it has been waiting for five years. The subvention was requested to improve the Montreux convention centre. The canton insisted that the money would be delivered only when it saw signs that Montreux and Lausanne were working together to economize and improve the infrastructure. Late in 2005 the two groups agreed to coordinate some of their work and since then they have joined forces with the tourism offices of the two cities and other services. The group, under the name Swiss Riviera Events, is actively prospecting to bring in new international business.
