24 Heures, Fre - A study group has been pulled together to find a way out of a political muddle created when Nyon and Prangin agreed on urban development plans - but forgot to consult the federal agricultural station at Changins, half of whose territory the communes planned to use.
Changins, which in 2006 became the main federal station for vegetation research, was startled to learn that it would lose half its ground, much of which is devoted to long-term planting and research. The red-faced communes explained that they thought it would be easier to negotiate with the federal government than with private parties - not realizing the importance of Changins, reports 24 Heures. Talks to find a solution are now scheduled.
