TSR, Fre - The Montreux Jazz Festival version 2008 will have 80 instead of 120 concerts in 16 days, all in the same location. Drinks will be cheaper and the "jazz" coins used as money during the festival will be replaced by Swiss francs. The changes come as part of an effort to cut costs, confirming news published earlier this week by Matin Bleu. The Jazz Festival office says the budget this year will be SFr16.3 million, down SFr3m from last year. The festival has operated in the red for the past three years.
