Tribune de Geneve (Fr) - The body of Gerold Stadler, 34, the husband of Swiss ski champion Corinne Rey-Bellet, was found in a forest above Ollon, Vaud last night (May 3) with a gun next to his body. A local resident walking a dog found the body. Police have not issued a statement about the cause of death or made a formal link between the dead man and the murder Sunday night of his wife and her brother. Stadler, a banker, was also a captain in the Swiss army, and familiar with arms.
The presumed murderer of Rey-Bellet and her brother escaped police after a high-speed chase Sunday night. Trained dogs led to his abandoned car, prompting a two-day intensive search. The body was found less than a kilometer away from the car, in a thickly forested area.
