Heatwave sends tourists to mountains - cities could benefit in future

swissinfo - The summer tourist trade is increasingly hot property in Gstaad, a popular ski resort in Bern canton.

Record-breaking temperatures in July sent people flocking to the mountains to escape the heatwave.

Climate change will mean more unstable weather such as the very hot July this year followed by an unusually cold August, warns Thomas Bieger, head of the Institute for Public Services and Tourism at St Gallen University. (continue reading)
