swissinfo - Tourism researchers from around the world, meeting in Switzerland, say that the global tourism industry is resisting problems caused by terrorism, epidemics such a Sars and natural disasters like the 2004 India Ocean tsunami. Travellers are becoming more immune to these travel "shocks." The number of frequent fliers has been growing steadily.

Destinations considered "safe," such as Switzerland, stand to benefit. The market is so competitive that more needs to be done to attract tourists, however, warn some experts.
