Lift07 and why we don't go naked when we work

(First: some people do work naked, but they are a minority.)

More thoughts on clothes and the workplace

A phrase that ran around the Lift07 conference in Geneva last week was "first life, second life." The first is the one you think you live, where you can pinch yourself, and the other is your digital life - the time you spend online, on your cell phone and so on.

One of the problems with second lives is that we sit too much. I write this as I kneel on my ergonomic stool: I can't bear to sit all day. Presenter Julian Bleecher from the University of Southern California, who talked about living in a pervasively networked world, says he works standing up. Ideally, we should all be moving.

The moo saga at Lift07, part 2

I was a little over-excited the other day when a package with moo cards, ordered on flickr, arrived. I was heading out the door to the start of the Lift07 conference and I wanted to hand out the cards as alternative business cards. My business cards have too much information on them for most people I meet, who really just need the address of GenevaLunch and a way to find me by e-mail.

When you live in a tri-lingual country like Switzerland where people write their titles three times and often include all their phone numbers, you find that you need a magnifying glass to read all the information on a typical card.

Interview: Lift07 in Geneva on the state of buzz

Four of the organizers of Lift07 in Geneva, left to right, Steve Ritchey, John Staehli, Nicolas Nova, Laurent Haug. Technorati Tags: geneva, GenevaLunch, lift, lift07

GenevaLunch - In 2006 the buzz word was blogging - if you said technology, in the next breath you had to mention blogs. This year, if there is a technology buzz it could be: everything, everywhere, commented Laurent Haug, founder of Lift07, as the conference drew to a close Friday in Geneva. The two-day conference brought together 550 people from 40 countries.
